Catalyst offers several different ways to search for materials. The most basic is keyword searching, where a keyword or phrase is used to discover materials. Keyword searches mine the text, title, and other important fields to find matches.
Examples of keyword searches:
- Hmong migration US
- Latino migration United States.
- Somali migrants US
Another way to search Catalyst is by following the subject headings. Each monograph (scholarly book) in Catalyst is assigned different subjects that describe the content in a simple phrase. You can follow the subject headings in Catalyst by clicking on a subject from within a book result (item record). Subjects headings in Catalyst records are in blue, hyperlinked text.
Example subject headings:
- Somalis -- Migrations
- Somali American teenagers
- Refugees -- United States
