The preferred citation manual for sociology is the ASA guide, which can be found either in the Reference Room of 4th Libe or for sale in the bookstore. It is based upon the Chicago Manual of Style so look there for further guidance on tricky citations.
Zotero is a great way to organize the sources you find from journals, web sites, books, etc. Zotero lets you build your own library of links, citation information, documents, copies of web pages, and notes. All of it can be organized into folders and tagged. All of it is searchable. And the added beauty is that it can format your citations for you (at least get you started - you should always check each one) and save you loads of typing. Simply add Zotero to your web browser and it will pull the information in for you.
Learn about using Zotero on the Gould Library Zotero guide. Don't hesitate to ask a librarian for advice or help.
