Discover tools to help find and connect to Carleton's subscriptions faster

What is Browzine?

Browzine is an online tool that allows you to browse, read, and stay current with the scholarly journals Gould Library provides access to. It is also available as an app for iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire devices.

Installation & Set-up

To access Browzine from your smartphone or tablet, download the Browzine app from your preferred app store:

Once you have installed Browzine, you will be asked to find your library. Type in Carleton College and select from the list to authenticate:

Creating an Account

An account is not needed to search Browzine and access articles, but it does give you access to additional features such as "My Bookshelf" and "My Articles". In order to create an account, click the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

Under "Browzine Account", click "Login" on the right hand side. At the bottom of the login screen, there will be an option to sign up for a new account. For more information on Browzine accounts, check out the Browzine Account FAQ.

Using Browzine

In Browzine, you're able to search for journals by title, subject, or ISSN. However, Browzine only searches journals that are available digitally in our collection. If you are interested in a particular title that doesn't show up, double-check Catalyst as we may have a physical copy available. An account is not needed to conduct a search in Browzine, only to save journals and articles.

In the upper right-hand corner, you are also able to search for individual articles using a DOI or PMID.

Once you click on a particular journal, you're able to view all of the issues which are accessible through the library. If you have a Browzine account, you are also able to add the journal to your bookshelf. For more information on how to use and navigate your Browzine bookshelf, check out the bookshelf FAQ.

Once you find an article you're interested in, you can access the full text by clicking on the title of the article. If you have a Browzine account, you can save the article in question to "My Articles" by clicking on the folder icon on the entry. For more information about "My Articles", check out the My Articles FAQ.

Browzine is also accessible through Catalyst, allowing you to view journal articles within their original context directly from the item record. Simply click on "View Issue Contents" near the top and its related Browzine page will open up in a new tab.
