MNHS Library Online Resources

While the majority of the MNHS Library's collection is only accessible in person, some significant portions of it can be found online. Below are some links to online resources that might be of interest to Carleton students. Keep in mind that the MNHS library might have more information on these subjects, both online and in person.

MNHS Research Guides
The librarians at MNHS have created research guides for a number of different topics. If you're not sure what kind of resources they have in a particular area, this would be a good place to start. These guides also contain suggestions for secondary sources that you may be able to access through Carleton's library.
MNHS Collection Finding Aids
This is a link to the MNHS's digitalized finding aids. They describe the contents of various collections of undigitalized material.
MNHS Library Catalog
Searches the books and secondary source collection of the MNHS.
MNHS Digital Collections
Search MHS's digitized oral history interviews, images of objects, photographs, government documents, and other documents.
Digital Historical Newspapers
The online gateway to the MNHS's historical newspapers collection. Content older than 1922 can be accessed online, but newspapers more recent than that must be seen in person.
Oral History Collection
The MNHS has collected oral histories since 1948. Many of them are interviews with members of Minnesota's immigrant and minority communities.
MNHS Minnesota Maps Collection
The MNHS's collection of digitized maps of Minnesota.
