POSC 212: Environmental Justice

Professor Kim Smith - Winter 2021

Getting Started: Books, Bibliographies, Websites

Instead of jumping right into one of the library databases and being overwhelmed by thousands of narrow research articles, start with scholarly books and research organization websites instead.  Why?

  1. Survey the research that's been done up until this point.
  2. Find the noted authors and critical debates and issues in the field.
  3. Brainstorm disciplinary concepts (good for searching databases, indexes, the catalog).
  4. Locate the most important articles to jumpstart your research.
