Alternative and Ethnic Press

Some of the best coverage of local issues can be found in alternative and ethnic press. These two indexes provide full-text access to hundreds of newspapers.

Google News Archive

Go to Google News (news.google.com) --> "goodhue wind" or your search term --> search, then click the "search tools" button under the search box -> expand the "any time" option and select a date range:

Library Databases to News

Why use library databases to search for news instead of Google News or going right to the news website?  Sometimes that is the best thing to do but other times you might want to:

  • Access news stories from archives that charge money
  • Search internationally
  • Search across hundreds of sources at once, often years back in time
  • Formulate precise searches
