Library Hours

The Gould Library building is open to current students, faculty, and staff via OneCard access. Please contact us if you need assistance accessing library resources and services.

Hours for Winter Break
November 24-25, open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Open to current students, faculty and staff.
November 26-29, closed for Thanksgiving
November 30-December 18, open Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Open to current students, faculty and staff.
December 19-27, closed for winter holidays
December 28-31, open to faculty and staff 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
January 1-3, closed

Using the Library from Off-Campus

The library subscribes to many resources that are available electronically, you must log in to see them from off campus.

Two options for Carleton Students, Faculty, and Staff:

  1. If you are off campus, links to library resources from the library's website will prompt you to log into the library's proxy server. If you'd like to get started right now, this link will prompt you to log in and then take you to the library's main page.
    or
  2. Install Carleton's VPN. Once installed, if you log into the VPN all library resources should work for you as if you were on campus.

Requesting Articles and Book Chapters

Carleton students, faculty, and staff off campus may request journal articles and book chapters through their Interlibrary Loan account and we will attempt to deliver them electronically. Please note: Requests for items Carleton does not own might be delayed due to library closures throughout the country.

Reference and Instruction Librarians

Your liaison librarians are available for remote instruction or one-on-one or group research consultations via Google Hangouts Meet, Zoom, phone, email, or chat. Faculty, please email your liaison librarian or set up an appointment to discuss your options for library instruction and support. Students, please email your liaison librarian or set up an appointment or for research assistance.

The Gould Library provides access to many materials, and in some cases the materials you normally use may not be practical or available for online teaching. Your Liaison Librarian can work with you to investigate whether alternative content is accessible that would help you achieve your learning goals. Your liaison can also help you create stable links to online materials that will work for you and your students, whether on campus or off.

Accessing Special Collections and Archives

Carleton Special Collections and Archives staff are available to assist with the use of our collections. Visits to Special Collections and Archives are by appointment only. Please contact archives@carleton.edu for more information regarding access to archival resources, and specialcollections@carleton.edu for more information regarding access to Carleton's special collections.
