Although access to Gould Library remains closed, library staff will continue our commitment to support the teaching and research needs of the Carleton community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the Governor’s stay at home order, the library has moved to a virtual services model from March 28 through April 10, 2020. Our extensive collection of digital materials remains available, and the majority of library services are accessible remotely. Information on library resources and services will be updated regularly on this page. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need additional assistance.

The Gould Library building is closed until further notice. Library services will be delivered online Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm including research and teaching support, reserves, and reference. Please contact us if you need assistance accessing library resources and services.
The library subscribes to many resources that are available electronically, you must log in to see them from off campus.
Carleton students, faculty, and staff may request journal articles and book chapters through their Interlibrary Loan account and we will attempt to deliver them electronically. If you are searching Catalyst, you will see a “Request for Digitization” link which will take you directly to Interlibrary Loan. We will try to find an online option for the resource. No physical material requests are being processed at this time. Please note: Requests may be significantly delayed due to library closures throughout the country.
The HathiTrust ebook database is now temporarily expanded to allow access to books we have in print in Gould Library. Log in and search for your desired book. If access is available, it will say Temporary Access, please click on that to check it out. You are allowed a 60 minute check out with unlimited renewals. For step by step instructions, visit this page. For more information, check out this FAQ or ask a librarian for help.
Your liaison librarians are available for remote instruction or one-on-one or group research consultations via Google Hangouts Meet, Zoom, phone, email, or chat. Faculty, please email your liaison librarian or set up an appointment to discuss your options for library instruction and support. Students, please email your liaison librarian or set up an appointment or for research assistance.
The Gould Library provides access to many materials, and in some cases the materials you normally use may not be practical or available for online teaching. Your Liaison Librarian can work with you to investigate whether alternative content is accessible that would help you achieve your learning goals. Your liaison can also help you create stable links to online materials that will work for you and your students, whether on campus or off.
