See the course video in Moodle (4/10/2020) for tips on using NexisUni.

To specify which papers you want to search, or to view papers available in a location, go to Menu > All Sources. From there, search or use the filters. To add a title to the search box at the top, click the down arrow and select Add Source as a Search Filter. Use Jurisdiction to limit to a state, and then Category:News to limit to newspapers.

To limit by length, add length>N, for example length>1000.

To download one or several documents at once as text files, click the download button and scroll to the bottom of the pop-up window and select Rich Text Format (instead of the default of PDF).

Contact Kristin for help with more specific ways to search Nexis Uni.

Use the Map Search to limit quickly to local papers within a state.

Click the A-Z Source List to select specific papers to search.

To capture text for a page image, to to the tab that says Full Text and click the down arrow. If a different database name appears, select it. From there, to download as a text-only file, click the button with three dots "All Options," scroll to the bottom of the pop-up, and select the format you want.

Here the text-only version shows up side by side with the page image.
