TIPS:

Do a keyword search for words that seem related to your map

  • EXAMPLE: travel and europe and cartography gives us: European cartographers and the Ottoman world, 1500-1750 : maps from the collection of O.J. Sopranos
  • EXAMPLE: KW "atlas" AND "Asia" gives you Oxford Comprehensive Atlas of the World

Look at the subject terms on records that seem relevant to your topic. Do a subject search only if you know the subject heading, such as:

  • Cartography -- England -- History -- To 1500
  • Cartography -- History
  • Early Maps
  • Turkey -- History -- Ottoman Empire, 1288-1918 -- Maps

***These are only suggestions,  there are many subject headings that do not even have the words "map" or "cartography" that could be relevant for your research on your map.  Identify other headings by looking at relevant records.
