Setting up Tools

Some tools are available from the library which will support your access to materials and make it easier to get full-text. However, these tools require set up on individual browsers and accounts. These tools will save you a tremendous amount of time and effort. Please install them at the outset of your research.

  • Google Scholar Library Links
  • LibKey Nomad

Find directions to set up these tools below.

Access Carleton Materials via Google Scholar

Using Google Scholar Library Links

  1. Click on the three lines in the upper left hand corner
  2. Choose Settings> library links>search for Carleton College
  3. Make sure that the box labeled "Carleton College Full Text" is checked (this is the only box that should be checked)
  4. Save your preferences
  5. Look for "full text" links next to articles when you search. Links to some collections like ScienceDirect and JSTOR,  will also bring you to those collections even though they do not say "full text" on their access link

LibKey Nomad Setup

Installing LibKey Nomad is simple and does not require you to create an account

  1. Go to the Download LibKey Nomad website.
  2. Choose your preferred browser and follow the prompts to add the extension
