Your district will be a primary source of data. Federal mandates require districts to collect and disseminate demographic and achievement data. Be watchful for terminology and where these are published on individual websites. Often states disseminate district data.
Nonprofits, coalitions, researchers, unions, and others are all also important sources of education data. Each has an objective in or reason to be collecting and disseminating data. They might ask critical questions of definitions, terminology, or methodology. A few ideas to get started.
