We want you to use the Archives! Here are some tips for ensuring a wonderful visit.


This guide is meant to introduce you to visiting the Carleton College Archives.  The primary purpose of the Carleton College Archives is to gather, preserve, and make available documentation related to the work, history, and development of Carleton College. 
We want students to feel comfortable seeking help for archival research and using the archives.  You'll find information about hours, finding aids, and guidelines for using the Archives.

When Making an Appointment

The following information is helpful when making an appointment:

  1. At least two possible times to visit
  2. Materials requested - you may provide specific materials requested after searching the Archives Database
  3. If you are unable to locate specific materials needed for your project, or you have a more general question, provide an overview of what type of information you need.
  4. Identify if you are in a class.

By providing these bits of information about your visit, Archives staff can be available to assist you, and the materials you need will be easily retrievable.
