For this course you will need to do research using many types of materials. This guide will provide access to many of the materials you need, and will suggest other places you might find helpful. Make an appointment with me to get together and explore strategies for doing library-based research.
This Guide is laid out based on different types of information you may want to search for. Along the left-hand side menu, you will find the following:
Researching Policy: Databases and websites for locating information and articles on public policy
Finding Journal Articles: Databases where you can search for peer-reviewed journal articles on your topic
Finding Books: Instructions for how to find physical books at Carleton, St. Olaf, and other libraries and how to obtain them
Finding Newspapers: Databases for newspaper and magazine articles
Finding Data & Statistics: Databases of datasets and statistics to support your research
If you need help navigating any of these sources, reach out to the librarian whose contact information is on the left hand column.
You can also chat with a librarian 24/7 (click from any library website).
Or, walk into the library and work with any librarian at the Reference Desk between 10 and 5 pm Monday through Friday.
