The library subscribes to many sources of images, each of which has its own license agreement. If you want to publish or otherwise publicly display an image from one of these collections, read its Terms of Use carefully.

There are few collections specifically devoted to educators. These are a sampling of your options.

Wikimedia Commons
Over 16 million freely usable media files. Like Wikipedia, anyone can contribute to the collection. Copyright and licensing information is provided for every image.
Flickr: The Commons
Collection of photographs that are free of copyright restrictions from dozens of cultural institutions around the world, including the Smithsonian, several U.S. museums, several state archive, NARA, and New York Public Library. Be aware that this is a separate Flickr stream from the main institutional Flickr sites, which often contain copyrighted images.

Search for items that have been licensed for reuse.

To find Creative Commons images, click "Tools" then "Usage Rights" in the results page.
