National Vital Statistics System
Records of vital events -- births, deaths, marriages, divorces, and fetal deaths -- are collected by the states, two cities (Washington, DC and New York City) and five territories. The National Vital Statistics System exists to work in coordination with these agencies to collect and disseminate these data as the official vital statistics for the nation. This agency's web site offers access to macro- and microdata, including such surveys and collection systems as the National Health Care Survey, National Health Interview Survey, National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, National Immunization Survey, and the National Vital Statistics System.
