Finding Scholarly Articles

The best way to find scholarly literature once you have decided on a topic is to search databases that have indexed scholarly journals. The following databases are likely to have articles of interest.

Remember that articles cannot be found in the Catalyst catalog. You will need to search one of the databases below to find relevant articles. Once you have identified the article, if it is not in full-text in the database, search Catalyst to see if we have the journal title in print.

  • Inspec
    From the Web of Knowledge page, click the link for Inspec. Inspec indexes a wide array of the physics literature back to the 1960's. This is the definitive source for information in physics. Use the thesaurus feature if you are not sure of what term to use in your search. Use the index term "Cosmology"
  • Current Contents
    Indexes thousands of scientific periodicals right up to the current week. An easy and effective way to scan the tables of contents to your favorite physics journals.
  • eHRAF Collection of Ethnography
    A good place to look for cosmologies of different cultures. Search on the culture and the OCM code 722, the HRAF code for Cosmology.
