Catalyst is the shared online catalog of the libraries of Carleton College and St. Olaf College. It provides an access point to the books, periodicals, government documents, and electronic resources available at Carleton or St. Olaf.
Strategies to help you find books and e-books
There are many ways to locate books that are relevant to your research topic.
Search for books by doing a simple keyword search in Catalyst and browse your results to find a few books that look relevant. Open up the record for one or more of these books and scroll down the page to look at the "Subjects." You can click on the subjects in blue to view additional related material.
Another way to find relevant books is to do a virtual browse at the very bottom of a book record in Catalyst.
Another strategy is to look at the bibliography of books you have already identified as useful. Authors may cite other useful books on similar topics to yours.
(Searches through citation information)
Search for library materials, especially books, that Carleton may not have. You can include searches for articles if desired. When you find something you want, order it through ILL by clicking on the "Request item through InterLibrary Loan" link.
InterLibrary Loan (ILL) is a service that allows Carleton students, faculty and staff to request items not owned by Carleton or (St.Olaf physical material only).
