Research Tips

When researching a specific location, utilize the resources available from that place. The resources on this page are general, and -- with the exception of major cities -- are unlikely to include much information about smaller cities or towns. However, you can try to find organizations in the location you choose that might include primary source materials or secondary research. Institutions to consider:

Museums, libraries, and historical societies

Municipal archives

Local non-profits, especially those devoted fair housing and related subjects
