Army Map Service Maps

Carleton has a fairly large collection of maps published by the Army Map Service. The AMS maps cover most of the world and would probably be a student's best bet for a topographical map of a place outside the US. They range in age from the 1940s to the 1970s. The AMS maps are kept in the sliding cabinets furthest away from the stairwell. AMS Maps have numbers that refer to the areas that they show. Our collection is fairly well organized, but the Universities of Texas and California, Berkeley both have created online indices that can help you find what you need.
