Searching for bible versions can be more complicated than you think! Refer to this guide for advice.

Chicago Manual of Style

See sections 14.138-140 for citing chapter, verse, and different versions of the Bible. References should include book, chapter, and verse.

  • Genesis book 1 chapter 1: Gen. 1.1.
  • A specific version should be cited as: 1 Cor. 6:1-4 (New Standard Revised Version).
