A guide to the various ebook options at Carleton

What is O'Reilly?

The O'Reilly Learning Library includes ebooks and audiobooks with topics ranging from cybersecurity to project management to communication and presentation skills. The content includes certification test prep matierals, on-demand training videos, ebooks and audiobooks.

Where can I find O'Reilly?

You can always find a link to the library's O'Reilly subscription on the "Databases" tab on the library website. By linking to O'Reillly through the library website, you ensure that you are using our subscription (and have access privileges non-subscribers lack). You will need to sign in to the O'Reilly platform (upper right hand corner) using your Carleton credentials to access content.

Once you have signed in using your Carleton credentials, you will be able to create personal playlists, save your progress in courses and books, and more. 

Access O'Reilly titles on your mobile device

1. Download the app for smartphones. 

2. Launch the app and you will be prompted to login with your Carleton College credentials.

3. Browse titles, find an ebook or audiobook, and enjoy your learning adventure!

4. You can download content for offline viewing, and you can create and organize collections of your favorite resources with playlists.

 

O'Reilly Fast Facts

O'Reilly Learning content can be found in Catalyst along with all of our other print books and ebooks. They appear in the “All Results” search in Catalyst as well as under a separate “Books” tab. Public domain (or "Full view") O'Reilly Learning ebooks can be read in your browser or using a mobile app.

Fast facts:

  • Search by title, author, keyword, or explore skills.
  • Create playlists and curate content.
  • On the "book reader page", highlight sections of content and add your own notes. (Highlights can be found under your profile button).
  • O'Reilly app will sync with all devices based on your login information, meaning that you will not lose your place when moving between mobile to browser modes.
