South Asian Society (SAS)

1997 - 1999

The first student organization organized specifically for South Asian students and cultures, South Asian Society (SAS) provided events and community for South Asian students and for the larger campus community. This organization was only active for a few years but was reorganized into DESI (Dedicated to the Exploration of South-Asain Interests).

DESI (Dedicated to the Exploration of South-Asian Interests)

1998 - 2014

Previously South Asian Society (SAS), DESI (Dedicated to the Exploration of South-Asian Interests) was created in 1998 to connect and highlight South Asian students and cultures on campus. Before the creation of MOSAIC in 2013, DESI organized annual Diwali and Holi celebrations along with other events.

MOSAIC (Mosaic of South Asian Interest at Carleton)

2013 - Present

Following DESI to celebrate South Asian cultures on campus, MOSAIC (Mosaic of South Asian Interest at Carleton) has hosted Holi and Diwali celebrations since 2014.

Coalition of Southeast Asians (COSEA)

2018  - Present 

Established in 2018, the Coalition of Southeast Asians (COSEA), provides a community for Southeast Asian students while celebrating and promoting Southeast Asian culture.
