The YWCA & YMCA nationally became committed to fighting racism in 1970 and the Carleton branch received an influx of information and resources to address racism in higher education. This includes recommended readings and surveys of campus culture. It is difficult to tell how widely these materials were distributed on campus. The YMCA and YWCA were active on campus since the early days of the college around 1874.
