Carleton College Archives: History of BIPOC Student Organizations at Carleton

Carleton Student Association (CSA)

The Carleton Student Association is the student government of Carleton, working to manage student organizations, represent student interests to college administration, and set rules for student conduct. For student organizations, CSA approves charters, allocates budgets, and tracks leadership. In addition to student organizations, the CSA has on occasion formed its own sub-committees or programs relevant to BIPOC student life. This includes the Civil Rights Committee formed in the 1940s and the Hometown Summer Project from the 1960s.
